Introduction
The National Introducing Brokers Association ("NIBA," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you visit our website, become a member, register for events, purchase a service provider listing, post to our job board, or otherwise interact with us (collectively, the "Services"). By using the Services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect
Information you provide directly.When you create an account or apply for membership, we collect information such as your name, job title, company or university affiliation, email address, phone numbers, mailing address, website, professional biography, areas of expertise, company logo, and account password. When you purchase a service provider listing, we collect your company name, description, contact details, and listing materials. When you post a job to our job board, we collect the posting details, including the contact person's name, email address, and phone number. When you contact a service provider through our directory contact form, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and message. When you contact us directly, we collect the information you choose to provide.
Payment information. Payments for membership dues and directory listings are processed by Stripe, our third-party payment processor. Your full payment card details are submitted directly to Stripe and are never stored on our servers. We retain limited transaction records, such as the amount, date, payment method type, card brand, and last four digits of the card, for receipts and accounting purposes.
Sign in with Google. If you choose to sign up or log in using your Google account, we receive your name, email address, profile picture, and Google account identifier from Google.
Information collected automatically.When you use the Services, we and our analytics providers automatically collect certain information about your device and usage, such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, pages viewed, referring pages, and the dates and times of your visits. See "Cookies and Analytics" below.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Services, including the member portal and directories;
- Process membership applications, dues, subscriptions, and other transactions;
- Publish member, service provider, and job board listings as described below;
- Send transactional communications, such as welcome emails, payment receipts, renewal and payment notices, password resets, and organization invitations;
- Send communications about NIBA events, programs, and association news;
- Respond to your inquiries and provide member support;
- Understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it;
- Protect the security and integrity of the Services; and
- Comply with legal obligations.
Cookies and Analytics
Essential cookies. We use a small number of cookies that are necessary for the Services to function, such as a session cookie that keeps you logged in to your account and short-lived cookies used to secure the Google sign-in process. These cookies do not track you across other websites.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics and Umami to collect information about how visitors use our website. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as your IP address, device and browser information, and pages visited, and provides us with aggregated reports about site usage. You can learn how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Umami is a privacy-focused analytics tool that collects anonymized usage statistics without using cookies and without tracking you across other websites.
Other third-party technologies. Some pages load resources from third parties that may receive your IP address and set their own cookies, including Google Fonts (icon fonts), embedded YouTube videos, and Google reCAPTCHA, which we use to protect our contact forms from abuse. Use of reCAPTCHA is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some features of the Services may not function properly without essential cookies.
Member Directory and Public Listings
A core purpose of NIBA is professional networking, and certain information you provide is published as part of the Services:
- Member directory. Member profiles, which may include your name, title, company, contact information, location, and areas of expertise, are displayed in the NIBA member directory. You may opt out of appearing in the directory through your account settings or by contacting us.
- Service provider directory. Service provider listings, including company name, description, contact details, and website, are published publicly as part of the listing you purchase.
- Job board. Job postings, including the contact information submitted with the posting, are published publicly.
- Leadership. Board member and leadership contact information is available to logged-in members.
Please consider carefully what information you include in content that will be published. Directory information is provided for legitimate professional networking and may not be harvested or used for unsolicited marketing; see our Terms of Service.
How We Share Information
NIBA does not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We share information only as follows:
- Service providers and processors that perform services on our behalf, including Stripe (payment processing), Google (sign-in, analytics, reCAPTCHA, fonts, and video hosting), Umami (analytics), our email delivery provider, and our website hosting and content management providers. These parties are permitted to use your information only to provide services to us;
- As part of published contentyou submit, as described in "Member Directory and Public Listings" above, including relaying directory contact form messages to the service provider you choose to contact;
- For legal reasons, when we believe disclosure is required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of NIBA, our members, or others; and
- In a business transition,such as a merger, reorganization, or transfer of NIBA's operations, in which case we will require the recipient to honor this Privacy Policy.
Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, and afterward as necessary to maintain transaction and membership records, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and comply with legal and accounting obligations. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information as described under "Your Choices and Rights" below.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and restricted access to member data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Choices and Rights
- Account information. You can review and update your profile information at any time through your account settings.
- Directory opt-out. You can opt out of the member directory through your account settings or by contacting us.
- Communications. You may opt out of non-transactional communications by following the instructions in those messages or by contacting us. We will still send transactional messages such as receipts and renewal notices.
- Access, correction, and deletion. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and to receive a copy of it in a portable format. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. We will respond consistent with applicable law and may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
- Auto-renewal. You can manage automatic renewal of paid memberships and listings in your account settings.
Children's Privacy
The Services are intended for industry professionals and adult students and are not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
International Visitors
NIBA is based in the United States and the Services are hosted and administered in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of the Services after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
